Legendary LA Rams Coach Chuck Knox Passes Away

Today, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum mourns the passing of a legendary contributor to their 95-year history, Chuck Knox, head coach of the Los Angeles Rams from 1973-1977, passed away at the age of 86.  Coach Knox, known as ‘Ground Chuck’ for his team’s emphasis on its rushing attack, led the Rams to five straight NFC Championships and three Divisional Playoff victories while coaching those 1970s teams.

Under his leadership, the Rams were an astonishing 31-4 at home in the Coliseum and in 2002, his 1975 team was named the Tenth Greatest Defense in the History of the NFL by ESPN, giving up an average of 9.6 points per game – the second lowest average in NFL history.  Our thoughts and prayers are for Chuck Knox and his family today as we fondly remember his contributions to “The Greatest Stadium in the World”.
